Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Cisely (“Cisely,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use our website at cisely.ai, our command-line interface, our web application, and any related services (collectively, the “Services”).
By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
We collect information you give us directly when you:
- Create an account (name, email address, password, organization details).
- Configure or use the Services (strategic plans, organizational data, work packages, stakeholder records, and any other content you choose to enter into your context graph).
- Contact us for support, feedback, or partnership inquiries.
- Subscribe to our newsletter or marketing communications.
1.2 Information collected automatically
When you use the Services, we may automatically collect:
- Usage data— pages visited, features used, commands executed, timestamps, and similar diagnostic data.
- Device and connection data— IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and approximate location.
- Cookies and similar technologies— small data files used to authenticate sessions, remember preferences, and analyze traffic. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not function correctly.
1.3 Information from third parties
When you connect external systems (such as Notion, Confluence, Linear, Jira, or AI agent platforms) to your context graph, we receive only the data those services share with us under your authorization. You can revoke these authorizations at any time.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Services.
- Authenticate users and secure accounts.
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
- Send service-related communications, security alerts, and product updates.
- Send marketing communications (only with your consent, which you may withdraw at any time).
- Analyze usage patterns to improve features and performance.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With service providers who perform services on our behalf (hosting, analytics, email delivery, payment processing) under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
- With AI tools you connect— when you authorize an AI agent or third-party tool to access your context graph, we share the data necessary to fulfill that integration.
- For legal reasons— if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or the public.
- In a business transfer— in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case we will require any successor to honor this Privacy Policy or notify affected users.
- With your consent— in any other case where you have given us explicit permission to share.
4. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
5. Data security
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access controls, audit logging, and routine security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access the information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your information (subject to legal exceptions).
- Restrict or object to certain processing activities.
- Receive your information in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@cisely.ai. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
7. International data transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your country of residence. When we transfer personal information across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses, to ensure your information receives equivalent protection.
8. Children’s privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice (such as an email or in-app notification). Your continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
